G.Ph. Telemann

Concerti per molti stromenti

With this CD, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin turns its attention to a long‑standing companion - one whose works have accompanied the orchestra since its very beginnings. On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of Telemann’s death (1681–1767), the ensemble celebrates its “composer‑in‑residence” of sorts with this brilliant and ever‑surprising concert programme.

»this is such an enjoyable listen … all the colour and flair, wit and ingenuity of Telemann’s instrumental writing is here in six concertos«

BBC Radio 3 Record Review

»Ein herrlich lebendiger Telemann, der verdient hätte, dass man sich seiner Konzerte genauso erinnert, wie der Bachs und Händels.«

MDR Figaro

»It really is a varied feast…the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin have added warm tonal brilliance and depth, bristling textures and a smartly nimble perkiness, and the result is a superbly colourful listen that ticks all possible boxes.«

Gramophone Magazine

»the Akademie capture the music’s grandeur admirably … a uniquely magical soundworld … all dispatched with the requisite gusto and élan«
