J. Haydn

L’isola disabitata

“The uninhabited Island”
Azione per musica
Libretto: Pietro Metastasio

»a performance of the highest standard, beautifully played by Akamus Berlin and directed with an unerring sense of style by Bernhard Forck. All four soloists are excellent, with top honours just about taken by the soprano Anett Fritsch’s Costanza…her delivery of accompagnato is expressed with real insight.«

Opera Magazine UK

»Under Bernhard Forck, the orchestral performance impresses right from the start of the overture.«

BBC Music Magazine

Haydn’s setting of this stage work - hugely popular in his own time - had long been a heartfelt project for Akamus. With this opera, the composer created a pioneering experiment: all recitatives are shaped by the orchestra, allowing the emotions of the protagonists to be rendered with great musical subtlety. Our recording evidently captured this distinctive character of the work and was met with high praise and numerous awards from the critics.
