With the internationally acclaimed soprano Christina Landshamer, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin has already collaborated several times on Mozart projects. Their close artistic friendship also inspired this recording, which is dedicated to the fascinating genre of the concert aria as found in Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven.

Composed with the dramatic intensity of operatic scenes, concert arias enjoyed immense popularity among audiences toward the end of the 18th century. To this day, they remain brilliant musical calling cards for the finest singers. Colorful instrumental works - such as Haydn’s title-giving La Passione and his Overture in D major - captivate listeners just as powerfully with their deep emotions.
