With this recording, the RIAS Chamber Choir, Akamus, and René Jacobs celebrate their 30 years of collaboration - a partnership as wonderful as it is remarkably successful. With this new recording of Bach’s Mass in B minor, we also return to the roots of this deep musical friendship. For three decades ago, the “Mont Blanc of church music,” as Franz Liszt once described this great Mass, was also our very first joint CD project with the choir and René Jacobs - artists who would go on to become long-term musical companions.
