“The Bach Dynasty” - a homage to the music of the Bach family, whose works have accompanied the ensemble for four decades.

The 11‑CD box set is being released to mark the ensemble’s 40th anniversary. It brings together reissues of recordings of famous works by Johann Sebastian Bach, such as the Brandenburg Concertos and the Orchestral Suites, as well as compositions by other members of this illustrious family of composers - from the distant cousin Johann Ludwig Bach to the sons Wilhelm Friedemann, Carl Philipp Emanuel, and Johann Christian.

The works of Johann Sebastian and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach in particular have repeatedly served as artistic touchstones in the orchestra’s development, which regularly appears at Bach festivals around the globe. In 2014, Akamus also became the first ensemble to receive the Bach Prize of the City of Leipzig, an honor previously awarded only to individual artists.
