Edburg Forck

Violin

Edburg Agneta Forck was born in Annaberg and received her first violin lessons at the age of five.

From 1979 to 1984, she studied violin with Hiltrud Ilg at the Hochschule für Musik Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig. At the same time, she gained her first orchestral experience with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra.

From 1984 to 1987, she was a member of the Staatskapelle Halle, where, at the Halle Theatre, she was extensively involved with Baroque opera repertoire, including several operas by Händel. During this period, she also began an intensive engagement with historically informed performance practice, among other activities through her participation in the Hallesches Consort under the direction of Manfred Otte.

In 1987, she moved to Berlin, where she performed regularly for a time with various Berlin orchestras, including the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra (now the Konzerthausorchester Berlin), and especially the Großes Rundfunkorchester. She also participated in various Berlin chamber orchestras and at times served as concertmaster.

Since 1990, she has been a permanent member of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.
