Katharina Litschig

Violoncello

Katharina Litschig is a Swiss cellist. She works in a wide variety of collaborations with diverse ensembles and orchestras. Both as a chamber music partner and as a continuo cellist, she is active throughout Europe.

Her studies were accompanied by engagements as a cellist with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and as principal cellist of the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra. She studied with Roel Dieltiens in Zurich and Peter Bruns in Leipzig, completing her master class diploma with distinction in 2016.

Katharina Litschig’s interest in historically informed performance practice began even before she started studying the cello. Inspired by courses with Kristin von der Goltz, she began to explore the questions and approaches of early music. During her studies with Jan Freiheit, she engaged in an in-depth study of 18th-century continuo playing.
