Sabine Fehlandt
Viola
Sabine Fehlandt, raised in a musical family, began violin lessons at the age of seven. She later switched to viola and gained her first quartet experience at the music school in her hometown of Waren (Müritz). From 1980 to 1985, she studied viola at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin and subsequently joined the Berlin Symphony Orchestra.
Alongside her orchestral work, she immersed herself in early music and historical performance practice starting in 1989, with a particular focus on the rarely played viola d’amore. She has performed as a soloist on this instrument in numerous concerts and contributed to CD recordings. She is also a member of the International Viola d’Amore Society and teaches the instrument.
As a member of the viola section of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin since 1987, Sabine Fehlandt has developed an exceptionally active concert career both nationally and internationally, contributing to many radio and CD productions.
Her work emphasizes chamber music, particularly in duo with Baroque cellist Ariane Spiegel.
