Trumpet

The musician, born in the Ruhr region, studied Baroque trumpet with Friedemann Immer at the Cologne University of Music, at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with Juhani Listo, and with Edward H. Tarr at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. From 1999 to 2020, she taught Baroque trumpet at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Leipzig, and from 2009 to 2011 also at the Nuremberg University of Music. 

Since 2012, Ute Weyrich has lived in Switzerland, where she primarily teaches trumpet to children and young people at the Appenzell Mittelland Music School. Since 2025, she has additionally run the inn Alte Chäsi in the canton of Thurgau with her husband, welcoming hungry and sociable guests. 

Ute Weyrich has been principal trumpet of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin for many years and is an internationally sought-after soloist and orchestral musician. She performs with a wide variety of ensembles, including the Capricornus Consort Basel, DomMusik St. Gallen, her own ensemble anima mea, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Concerto Köln, Concerto Con Anima, and many others. Numerous CD recordings document her work as a musician.
